Quick Background Change - Photoshop Elements 10

You can change the background of your photo in just 10 simple steps using Photoshop Elements 10 at the Digital Arts Lab.

1. Open your photo in Photoshop.

2. Use the Quick Selection Tool to select the person. 

3. Select < Inverse (on the Top Menu Bar)

4. Click "Delete" or "Backspace" on your keyboard.

5. Select < Deselect (on the Top Menu Bar)

6. In the Layers Panel, Double-Click "Background" layer and click "OK" in the pop-up box.  This will unlock the layer and rename it as "Layer 0"

7. Open flower image

8. Drag flower image from the "Project Bin" onto your photo

9. In the Layers Panel, move "layer 0" to the top of the layers

10. File < Save As (on the Top Menu Bar)

National Library Week

This week is National Library week!  We are celebrating with various events throughout the week.  Snappy the Tortoise is turning five years old this week and everyone is invited to his birthday parties.

Digital Arts Lab at Cesar Chavez Library

The Digital Arts Lab at Cesar Chavez Library is open!  Work on all your photos, videos, songs, websites, and other digital projects any time during library hours.

Photoshop Available for the iPhone

If you are interested in editing photos on the go, then Adobe Photoshop Touch is the perfect solution.

Here at the Digital Arts Lab, we have Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop Elements 10 available on each computer.  Photoshop Touch is an app for Android, iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch that allows you to use many of the great features of Photoshop CS5, right on your portable device.

Snappy the Tortoise announces the Grand Opening of the New Cesar Chavez Library on Dec. 2 at 2:00 pm.  Everyone is invited!

There will be no Digital Arts Classes for the Month of July and August.  In September classes will begin again with Photoshop Basics and Simple Video Editing.

The Lab will still be open for all to use during normal Library Hours.  Come and get your summer digital arts project going!
